Which drawing is the "bad" drawing? Compare the ii!
Don't do that!
See how flat the back of the head is? Aaacck! And run across how the middle is not the proper "triangle" shape, but rounder, more like the centre from the front end view. And it's a style besides close to the bridge of the nose. It'southward non "deep set" plenty.
Notice that the nose and nostril are flush with the edge of the face. That'south merely wrong.
Also, notice that there isn't enough of a forehead. Not only is there not plenty room for the brain in the back of the head, the brow is pathetically low. The jawline is far likewise shallow. The ear is placed far too close in to the rest of the features. Deplorable, sad.
The lips are not shaped right, and are non rendered or shaded with whatever amount of sensitivity (but using all harsh lines). The mouth also has a shape like a sideways eye, which isn't right. It's too even of a shape. And, the mouth is too wide—it goes likewise far back.
The profile is too straight up-and-downward, like all the features are sticking out of a flat plank. In that location should exist a subtle and gentle receding in at the forehead, and the oral fissure and chin area.
Plainly, there isn't any shading or structure to the face. It is all just lines, with a few bits of tone here and there.
Don't do this! Don't depict your profiles similar this! It's easy to non do information technology this way, once you lot understand what problems to look for, and what bad habits to interruption.
And don't feel bad if you take to erase and erase and erase because you couldn't get the proportions right the first time. This is perfectly normal. Just keep at information technology, until you get it right!
(Steps 1 - 3)
The profile, step-past-stride:
- Draw an oval and a circumvolve, similar the outset illustration on the left. Draw the neck, coming out at an bending.
- Depict in the placement of the features, past sketching a line across the middle of the head (optics), then halfway down from the eyes and mentum (for the nose). And then describe a line about halfway down again (for the mouth). Draw in the profile of the profile—browline, nose, and rima oris. Depict the ear in (at an bending). Too indicate the large musculus (Sterno Mastoid) of the neck.
- Start to refine the profile. Sketch in a shadow area to bespeak where the center socket is. Draw the nostrils of the nose, the lips, and the cheekbones.
- Erase some of the extra sketching lines. Describe in the hair, add details to the optics, depict in the eyebrows. Proceed shading and adding more detail.
- "Clean up" the actress sketching lines. Soften upward whatsoever areas that take gotten also dark, and refine the features. Get out the drawing solitary for a while. When you pick information technology up once more, right any errors you happen see.
